Another 5 Ways to Destress and Relax

Continuing with my now ongoing D&R series, I comeforth with another 5 ways to destress and relax. If you are just finding this post, I have created two previous posts; PAUSE… BREATHE… 5 Ways to Destress and Relax and 5 More Ways to Destress and Relax .

I wanted to create this post because the holidays can be a stressful time for everyone for various of reasons. So I wanted to come with some options to help you and also remind you of options I have suggested before.

Retail Therapy

Shopping can be a very calming thing to do. You may not be a person who likes to take their time at the store but you may actually be missing out on some great stress relieve. According to heathline, “Unplanned shopping seems to help relieve bad moods.” While you may think you may not have it in your budget to shop to make yourself happy, you don’t alwaays have to spend exsobadent amounts of money to shop and be happy. You can go thrift shopping and their not only destress, you’ll save money, and you’ll find cool unique pieces. It really is a win overall.

Making A Tea

This is a very simple yet effective way to try and relax. This is something that can be done almost anywhere and can be easily available. According to Healthline, “certain herbal teas have properties that can help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.” Some they suggest are Peppermint, Chamomile, Lavender and Valerian. I love having a nice warm cup of honey Vanilla Chamomile Tea is one of the best things I love to do at night. It helps wind me down, not not because of the warm taste but the aroma is so nice and calming. This can also be done at any time of the day, and is very customizable as you can find teas that help you relax and find a taste that you love.

Play a Game

Who doesn’t love a good game? Playing a game can be so calming. It will definitely help you take your mind off whatever is stressing you out. According to Game Quitters, “Gaming produces a release of dopamine.” Dopamine if you don’t know is the “happy” hormone. So it will definitely make you feel better. Also Especially if it is one of those “sandbox” games, which are the waiting time of games like animal crossing or Japan Rural Life. Play a game that doesn’t stress you out like a crossword or something that will not make you overthink. My favorite games are Sim City, Animal Crossing and Japan Rural.

Go Get Your Nails Done

Self care is of course a way to destress but I believe that getting your nails done/cut is one of the most ways to start the process. It’s a personal belief, but I think that things like hair and nails can hold negative energy and having your hair and nails done/cut is a way of getting rid of said negative energy. Also besides that, getting your nails done, whether it be a pedicure or manicure or both, feels great. Not only because of the services, like the massage or arm towels, but the feeling that you are keeping yourself up and loving yourself by having some self care. However, you don’t always have to go somewhere, this can also be achieved at home. I do some of my mani and pedis at home and it is also a calm and relaxing time because I just play something on my iPad and then start the soaking process, and during that I read, etc (you get the jist.)

Meet Up with a Friend

I think this may be no brainer, but maybe when you’re stressed the last thing you want to do is go hang out with somebody. Well from experience, you definetly should. Hanging out with a friend when ours feeling stressed is the best because you can just forget fora bit or talk about it and let it off your chest. Sometimes you don’t even wanna talk about it and a friend meet up to do something last minute is the best thing you can and should do. Also you can do some of the previous distressing activities WITH A FRIEND ! A mani-pedi with a friend is so much fun!

I hope this post has helped some by finding 5 new ways to Destress and also clicking the links of my previous posts to have a total of 15 ways to Destress on hand! A lot of these newer ones are more little and simple things that can be done throughout the day and doesn’t have to be a one time a day thing. You can drink chamomile tea multiple times throughout the day when you need it. Or you can also play a game whenever, some of these games can be played on consoles that you can take with you like the Nintendo switch or your phone.

If you do try any of these out let me know in the comments ! Check out my previous posts as well and let me know some of your favorite ways to relax.
