TRENDS FOR AUTUMN/ WINTER 2023

Autumn has officially began. Currently, in my city, we still have a few more warmer days left before it starts cooling down. I think now is the perfect time to revamp your closet with the newest pieces and trends for the current seasons.

Back to Basics

One trend that was seen across the runways was basic looks. NOT in a derogatory way, but in a tried and true reliable way. With the trend of quiet luxury still being prominent, it’s no surprise fashion houses have taken note and released elevated basics for their collections. I think that this is a trend anybody can take part. It’s nothing super flashy that gets you out of your comfort zone, it’s just looking very put together. With this trend the goal is really to just look nice and put together, you’re not trying to be the most different or be the one with the flashiest outfit, you just wanna look nice. Well quiet luxury is actually trying to look rich, without the logos; but if you’re normal (Noah fence to anybody 😭😭) it’s just trying to look presentable and have very nice basics in your wardrobe that last for a long time. Investment pieces !

Prints

Another trend that was seen in various catwalks. I definitely think, this was in part of the quiet luxury trend and to have the complete opposite for those who aren’t into just buying elevated basics. This is another trend that can be easy to try out. You can go for a small simple pattern that has the pattern either small or sparse on the garment so it doesn’t draw attention. Or you can go the complete opposite and have a bold and eye catching pattern that turns head. This is a trend that can be adjusted to the users preference.

Out there

I think this trend can be interpreted in many ways. One way is by taking the print from previous and taking it to the extreme and having an outfit that really calls the attention with the print whether it be all over or clashing. It also can take the basic outfits and add a flare by having an interesting cutout or some element of that sort. This is definitely a trend that will get you out of your comfort zone whether it be print or construction of the garment, it will really put you out there.

The trends above summarize what I saw the most across the runways. While there were other trends walking around the catwalks, I decided to just choose the three most prominent, as some other trends take some if not most of these trends and make them different by changing a certain detail.

Overall, I think two of the three trends are very easy to try out if you don’t want to make yourself uncomfortable, but there always is the third option if you want to put yourself out there. What trends are you thinking of trying this autumn/winter? Let me know in the comments.
