When I began to write this I felt a bit silly as I was going to write about my thoughts and experience using a pair of underwear. But after thinking about it, I thought that this is very much needed. Why? MAYBE TMI?? But I did not wear underwear till as of last year 2022. I did wear underwear occasionally, mostly in really cold weather; I live in Chicago, so the winters here are brutal and that’s when I really wanted to wear them. But for the most part I was just putting on my pants and going through with my life.
It wasn’t until I was working at Allbirds that I decided to try out the underwear. In the location I worked at it was a very small boutique style store which only carried the shoes, socks and underwear’s and none of the apparel. It wasn’t till one customer asked about the underwear and another customer started raving about it that my interest was peaked as he had a raving review about the underwear from one of his friends. In my mind, one underwear probably has the same feel as any other one. So I fell for the hype of this customer and got one pair… when I tell you this may have altered the trajectory of my life…
While there are something’s I do and don’t like about this product; that can be said about any other product as well. Following I will list the pros and cons about the product and why overall you should definitely get a pair to try out yourself.
Pro’s
– Material

One thing I really like about Allbirds underwear is the material. They use a eucalyptus-merino blend which they call their Trino material, to create there garments. From my product knowledge as a former employee, this is a type of material they have created on their own and is something that is only being sold by them. So finding something compared to them is actually hard as no one else uses their textiles yet.
-Sustainability

Allbirds is known for having sustainable shoes and does not stray far from that in their underwear. On the website and on the underwear they put the carbon footprint created when making the product, usually being lower than most products. Also they use natural fibers from eucalyptus blend with natural merino wool, lowering the production of synthetic materials.
– Comfortability
These undies are some of the MOST comfortable underwear I have ever worn in the 25 years of my existence. Their websites describes it as barely there and they are NOT kidding about this. You do sometimes forget that you are wearing underwear wear as they are so comfy! NOt only that but the way they cup and hold your good bits (oruvate front area) IS SO GOOD! Like everything just is good. I have worn them on full shifts at work, on longs runs, quick errands and it feels like nothing is even there.
My favorite is the boxer brief. I love the length of the inseam, they do not roll up, the band at the top feels nice and is not too loose or to tight when wearing and just the fit from the the front and the butt area is so good. Just really hugs your body and lets everything be so comfortable.
Also what is great is the breathability. This may seem weird but if you are someone who works out this might be something you care about. I personally am a very sweaty person and sweat profusely when I really am in the zone. I am not saying they are not there (I just am a sweaty dude and know its inevitable), but I am saying it is not as much as other times I have tried wearing something and it being like super sweaty.
I honestly stopped wearing underwear bemuse I didn’t like how the underwear fit and with these I loved wearing underwear because not only did they feel good on me, I felt great wearing them. Definitely recommend trying one out.
-Buying in Bulk
I think this is also a great thing because who doesn’t;t love a discount. On the Allbirds website and in store, when you buy more than one pair of underwear you get a discount:
- Buy 3 get a 20% off discount
- Buy 5 get a 30% off discount
While you may not think you want to buy all of them, I say you should just to get the discount and you can still return things even with the discount, as long as you have not worn them. SO if you buy 5, get 30% off and don’t like them, you can always return the other 4 pairs and at least you tired out the underwear and didn’t pay full price.
It’s even better if you have a job or know a friend who works their because you can use their discount and stack the bulk discount to get a really good deal!
Cons
– Price

The price of one single pair of underwear is:
- $24 for a Boxer Brief
- $22 for a Trunk
When you know that it is made out of renewable materials and made from a textile of its own kind you start to understand the price. You are more so paying for it being sustainable and also one of a kind as no other retailer, currently, are using their eucalyptus-merino blend. When you look up men’s underwear and you can find underwear on clearance for $12 or a pack of 3 Clavin Klein briefs for $23, however none of them will probably come close to the fit and feel of their boxer brief.
Since it is a bit higher price point for a single pair, I definitely suggest buying more than one just so you can get the discount, try one out and see how you like it and then return the rest if you don;t like it.
SIDENOTE: It may have been broken when i used it but I was able to buy clearance underwear, and still use my employee and bulk discount. Which ended up being around $4 PER UNDERWEAR !!! I may have bought all of the clearance underwear because they took off that particularly item after lol. Also, this won’t work in store as I had been told that you can’t buy clearance items and use your discount as well. SO DEFINITELY try it out with the underwear if you can, it won’t work on apparel or other things for some reason lol)
-Trunk

Personally, I do not like the trunks. Which is ironic because I ordered like 6 pairs of them… LMAO I thought I had picked boxer briefs but they were trunks… I honestly kept them because from the sidenote above, the were on sale, i was able to use my employee discount AND the 30% off so they came to $4 each and i thought that was way better than paying like $15 each.. sdkfjfjl.
But I didn’t like them because of the length. I have meatier thighs, so i just believe that because of that they tend to roll up from the bottom of the leg. This doesn’t happen with the boxer briefs, I’m assuming since they have a longer length. Other than that I don’t mind them as the have the same feel. I also do not like how if you’re doing a lot will just ride all the way up from the back of the leg nd will be like right under your butt in a sort of hip brief/bikini type of way. I personally, find that uncomfortable and annoying as you have to readjust the underwear… however this might just be because of me having a bigger butt/thighs. So maybe if you don’t have extra weight their they might fit better.
Overall, I definitely think more people should try out and use these underwear’s. I use had to write this because I can only tweet or talk to my friends about this for so long. I had to write about it and let more people know. ALLBIRDS UNDERWEAR CHANGED MY LIFE! Literally, i started wearing underwear again and haven’t looked back. I recommend looking out for sales as sometimes they do put items on sale for holidays also just checking up on their website ever so often as sometimes, only some colors will be on sale while others are full price.
Have you worn Allbirds underwear? Have I peaked your curiosity about them? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
