I have recently started as new job in which I work a 9-5 and have a five day work week, and two days off. This is a very knew thing to me as I usually had part time jobs and never worked a full work week. With this new change to my life a change to my routine had to come.
One thing I have noticed is that my mornings can affect the trajectory of the rest of my day. While not always the case, sometimes bad mornings can lead to bad feelings days, and good mornings can lead to good feeling days. Starting off a morning in a good way really changes my point of view because you feel better and you don’t let mineute things bother you. While, if you have a bad morning start; every little thing might bother you and you just might feel like the world is against you.
In this post I will list five things that I have integrated into my mornings that I believe help me have a great morning start. While, you don’t have to add all of these to your morning, I thing maybe at least one addition to your morning may change it drastically for the better.
1. Yoga

This is something that I live and swear by. I always recommend this to people when they say they wake up sore in the mornings. Anything from five to fifteen minutes, or even an hour (if ou have the time) can help to jump start your day. It really helps the body wake up and feel better. Days that I do yoga before work vs days that I don’t I can really tell by how my body feels and even how my attitude and mood is while heading towards work.
Yoga in the mornings helps not only relax your body from the previous days work, but also helps stretch out your muscles and wake them up. I highly suggest downloading the Nike Training App from the App Store. This is an app that is free that has many different workouts, including yoga: with various difficulty levels and times. From an intense yoga session that will surely wake you up to a more serene yoga that is slow and helps slowly wake up your body in a more gentle way. There will surely be a class that will fit you. (Not sponsored, I wish lol)
2. Breakfast

YES, another cliche. BUT NO, LISTEN, this is kinda a game changer. This is another thing that can also help steer your mornings into a good path. While there is obvious studies and have been told this forever, I would usually skip breakfast. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I actually made time for myself to have time to eat something before I left my house and had a start to my day.
While you may be someone who may not like or have time to eat, i suggest trying it out. Even if it is something small like Oatmeal, a bowl of granola and your preferred milk, or even a protein shake; eating something in the morning will surely help put you in the right state of mind to have a good day.
3. Meditation

This is a very calm way to start your morning. If you are not a morning person I would suggest trying this out. As it will help you forget that it is morning and help relax the mind, and accept it has to be up so early (lol) No, but really, this is such a great way to start a morning. It brings a positive point of view to help start your day.
If you already know that you are having a busy day because you maybe have to continue a project at work or school meditation will help your relieve the stress that you are expecting to go into. Also help you change your point of view on said project or just your entire day in general. Meditation practice can very from person to person and I believe that it is a very personal way to start your mornings, so i suggest looking up online ways to mediate angry out ones you think you’d like. Sitting in silence isn’t for everyone, however; a quiet walk while observing nature can be. There are various ways one can meditate and I suggest you try find one tat suits yourself and lifestyle.
4. Journaling

I think that journaling combined with all the previous suggestions could be very beneficial for you. Journaling how you feel when you wake up can be positive for you because it can be a sort of record you keep of your feelings when you wake up. Additionally, journaling after a meditation is great because you can reflect on things that the meditation helped you realize or how it made you feel and how that will affect your day.
Or you can also just wire it about your previous day and things you will do in the current day to have a better day than the day before. The possibilities for journaling in the morning are endless. But I think writing about how you will have a good day and things you will have to do that day will be beneficial. One way in reminding you what you need to get done and accomplish. Also it’s a sort of manifesting a good vibe for you morning and day.
5. Working Out

Don’t click off the page. HEAR ME OUT. I, too, would see people working out in the morning or people talking about doing that and would be baffled at how. It wasn’t until I tried it, that I found out how good working out in the morning felt. Again like yoga, it really wakes the body up. And it gives a productive feeling to the start of your morning, whether you have a busy rest of the day or not.
Of course you don’t have to do a full on hard core work out, you can keep it simple by only doing a light jog or run; or whatever else your favorite short workout activity is. Or if you do like doing a full workout try it in the mornings and see if you like doing it better then, than your regular times done. Whatever workout you do, you will surely feel awake and ready to conquer your day.
While reading this I hope you found something to try and incorporate into your morning. Or even try to add all of these to them. While at first it may be hard to add to your routine, or maybe you don’t even have one and are starting to try and make one; doing some of these things will make your mornings better.
If you are going to try one of these suggestions, let me known in the comments which one. Or also comment what your favorite thing to do in the mornings as well!
