SERIES REVIEW: ALL OF US ARE DEAD

All of Us Are Dead is a Korean Netflix series. It is based on a webtoon by Jong Dong-guen, which was originally titled Now at Our School, which wasfirst published on NAVER in 2009. Over that time it had garnered a cult following and became very popular.

A webtoon is a combination of cartoon with World Wide Web,meant to be consumed on your mobile device. This is a relatively new format for content which was originated and popularized in Korea.

This series follows a group of teens who try to fight and survive during a zombie epidemic. While I am usually not the one to watch any content related to zombies. The show consists of 12, hour long episodes. They are in Korean, as it was originallly filmed in that language, but they do have subtitles in various languages, as well as dubbed over. I personally, don’t like the concept of zombies. I still decided to check it out because it was number ranked at number two on Netflix when it was released. (It is not number two anymore, as I published this, but still in the trending section.) If this zombie series can catch the interest of a non-zombie fan, it surely can catch yours. It caught my attention enough that I binged this series in 2 days. I am not a person who ever binge watches any show or series, so this was a first and I sorta understood why people do it.

Synopsis

The series follows a group of teens throughout at their school, which is ground zero, to a zombie epidemic. This zombie epidemic was brought on after a student gets bit by a rat that was contaminated with the disease. The science teacher who created it, tried to isolate the student, but was unable to. Thereafter, havoc and chaos is brought upon the school and then the rest of the town.

Throughout the series you will be hooked by the trials and tribulations these kids go. From minuet things like teenage love to death your eyes will be stuck on the screen. From the first scenes, which in my opinion were somewhat strong, which should have been a sign of how the rest of the show would be.

You will go through many emotions while watching this. You will cry, oh you will definitely cry. (Won’t spoil it, but just be warned.) And you will also be angry, shocked and confused. There is one scene in the show that happens and when i tell you… GAGGED. I believe if you watch this show and you watch it when the scene comes up you will know what I am talking about. This series involves a rollercoaster of emotions that you will experience. They portray the emotions so great, they make you feel them as well.

Not For The Light of Heart

This show is very gorey and has very graphic violence. If you are someone who may not like this or find uncomfortable this may not be a show for you. As most of the show contains that imagery.

I wanted to keep this review short because I did not want to give a lot away. As I felt if I spoke more about it, I might give away something that is important to the plot. The show speaks for itself and it is great one. I highly suggest checking it out. There is so much that happens when watching and you will just be hooked instantly. You might even like it so much and binge it, like how I did. At the moment of writing this, there is no news on whether or not there will be a second season. Will update if there is any news on this.

If you have watched this show, what did you think about it? Let me know in the comments. If you are planning to watch it, let me know too. 🙂
