5 More Ways to Destress and Relax

Back in May of 2020 I published a post on my blog titled “PAUSE… BREATHE… 5 Ways to Destress and Relax. Obvious from the title in the post, I wrote about five ways I find useful to Destress and Relax. Two years later I come with the re-up reloaded of five more ways to help you feel better. With the current climate of the pandemic and it being far from gone and everything else; I think that having multiple options to relax yourself is good because one thing can not be for everyone.

Yoga

Okay, now this may totally sound like a cliche. like oh do yoga and you will feel so calm and chill. BUT ITS TRUE!! If you had a hard day at work whether it be too much physical labor or emotionally drained, doing yoga can help alleviate you. If you are just starting your day and you know you’re going to have a hard day yoga can help you prepare your body for the work that may come. Or even if it’s a nice easy day you’re having a short yoga lesson will totally help it become a better day. If you are not flexible do not worry because yoga isn’t essentially about being flexible or becoming flexible but stretching your body in ways to help better yourself and having your body become more flexible (if it does) is just another benefit of practicing yoga.

I started doing yoga on a daily basis for a while and when i did stop i noticed a huge difference in not only my mood but how my body felt. Incorporating this to your daily routine or if you don’t have a daily routine yet this can be call to start one and incorporate yoga to it. There are many apps where you can do yoga, but I highly recommend the Nike Training App. Not only is it free to use, it has a huge variety of yoga lessons that vary from difficulty to time. (Not sponsored but it should be because i literally recommend this app to everyone I know who wants to do yoga or workout. Nike gimme my money lol)

A fifteen minute yoga lesson can make a huge difference in your day and if you don’t believe it try it out for yourself. I suggest either of the two and i added options to do either before bed or something for a morning routine.

Meditating

Another thing you probably hear or read about when looking for ways to feel better. But again, they may have made some points… If you think that you can’t be sat quiet for an extended period of time don’t knock it till you try it. Being just sat still with no thoughts, just your head empty and great vibes is awesome. Meditating isn’t only this though. You can listen to meditation music that will help you set the mood, this can range from white noise, to waterfalls, or music made specifically for a certain type of medication like chakras.

There is a variety of ways to mediate and help certain aspects of yourself with this practice. There is certainly one type of mediation that fits you. This is also something that you don’t pick up or maybe even understand on the first try. It may take a couple of sessions for you to get into the groove and start appreceating it. In multiple online publications and book it usually states that when starting to meditate for the first time try setting a timer for 5 minutes to try out and see how it feels, it may take a while before you do have a long mediation session. At first, 5 minutes may seem like a life time just sitting in silence, but once you get used to it and incorporate mantras and music time flies.

Going for a Small Walk

Sometimes a simple action like going for a short walk can make a huge impact on your day. Getting some sunshine and some fresh air is always great, especially if you work from home with current situations and are home all day. When you go for a walk disconnect as well. Put your phone on silence, and just hear the birds chirping, the wind rustling thorugh the branchs, other noises that are from your neighborhood (lol.) I feel like this gives your a breather figuratively and literally, because you disconnect from your phone, work and other stress factors and you are just in nature taking in everything.

Watching a Comfort Show/Movie

Watching a show or movie that you are very fond of can be a form of destressing and relaxation. You are watching something you love and when doing so you should forget about anything that is bothering you and just get immeresed in the content. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure or something you watched with your family growing up; just watch it and enjoy your life and think about everything else later. Just stay in PJ’s all day and stay in bed and relax.

JUST CRY.

If you are looking for ways to destress and relax, you are probably overwhelmed. Honestly, just cry. Let it out. Everybody always thinks that crying is bad and what not, but bottling emotions is worse. Just have a cry about everything and anything that is bothering you and you will definatly feel better. Sometimes that cry helps you ralize somethings aren’t worth your tears and sometimes it does re-enforce that the problem may be big but that you can get through it.

A lot of these may seem like no brainers to some, but for others this may be new to them or never really thought that these were ways to help themselves feel better. In our current state of the world, the news and constant update of social media may make you feel overwhelemed; i know i feel like that soemtimes. It is always good to have ways to help calm yourself down and be relaxed.

I hope you found at least one of these suggestions helpful for yourself. Which one of these will you try ? Or what are your favorite activities to do to relax? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
