Series Review: Alice in Borderland

You will be left speechless when watching this multiple times throughout one episode, ONE. A series that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Available to watch through Netflix. A wild story that follows multiple people who fight for their survival. While you may think that this sounds like the wildly popular netflix show “Squid Game”, it is not very much. This show takes a science fiction and dystopian element to the concept of playing games to survive to a whole other level.

This was originally a manga, of the same name, which was adapted into a live action series. An 8 episode series with around 45 minute episodes. This is a surely bingeable series.

Synopsis

The story revolves around Arisu and the poeple and events whom he encounter throughout his journey of survival. What I mean by that is one day Arisu and his friends are evolved in a car accident and they try to avoid the police so they hide in a train station bathroom. But when they emerge from the bathroom a while later after they heard silence, everyone in the city was gone. This was the begin of an unwanted journey.

In this now empty world they had to play games not to win money, but just solely to survive. These “games” toyed with the peoples mind and feelings. Theses games give people more days on their “visas” to keep living. If their days run out and they don’t play more games to survive they die. Nobody was safe. It brings the sci-fi element with a big brother-esue type of monitoring. If you say something that you shouldn’t or your visa expires they can zap you with a ray that comes from the sky and you are dead. Dystopian element is present with everyone not caring for others overall, they want to just fight for their own survival. Watching this you will be shocked and even cry because of what the characters are having to go through.

Not for the light of heart.

If you are not a fan of horror films or anything that involves a lot of violence I would not recommend. If you watched Squid Game and thought that was a lot because of the violence this show is something else. The “games” that are having to be played by the poeple to survive is some next level mind f–k. You will be left with your jaw dropped. You will be watching and just think like “whom and how did they think of this?”. lol

Crazy Plot Twists

The plot twists in this show is what keep you hooked and wanting to keep on watching. Right from the first episode this happens with the main characters hiding in the bathroom and they get transported to this other “Japan”. This is the most tame plot twists that the characters have to encounter in their journey if I’m being honest. Everything from there on fourth is very unpredictable and keeps you on your toes. I am not going to mention any because it is better to watch it and I don’t want to spoil it.

I hope that this quick and short review has gotten you a enticed into wanting to check out Alice In Borderland. I decided to keep this review short and simple because the series is really good and like I said you will be hooked by the first episode. While it is only 8 episodes, (I didn’t finish the last episode for like two weeks because I didn’t ant it to end) Netflix did renew the show for a season 2. So we can thankfully look forward to the continuation of the story.

If you haven’t watched it you have time to watch it to catch up and be ready for when season 2 premieres. What’s on Netflix, states that the first season covers around the first 31 chapters of the manga, so we can expect that season 2 cover the last 33 of them and help wrap up the story and see what happens with the characters.

If you haven’t checked it out will you and if you have are you lookin forward to season 2 ? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
