The sun has started setting earlier and now nights are chillier. Summer is almost over and in comes the autumnal and winter season. With the new season comes a needed wardrobe change to suit the varying weather conditions that one may encounter. Personally, I like autumn the most because it’s not too cold but not too warm either.
In this post I will bring to you the trends from across all runways that are sure to make strangers compliment your outfit. Also now would be a great time to revamp your look. Maybe your stuck in a funk or you feel “?!?” (You know what I mean), a new look may help you. I’m not saying buying new clothes will solve your problems; but wearing clothes that make you feel confident can also rub off on other areas of your life.
Oversized

One trend that was noticeable was the oversized looked. A lot of designers have began to move away (slowly) from the form fitting clothing both for men and women alike. I personally like to wear oversized or baggy clothing because it’s so comfortable. You don’t have to worry about something being to tight because you know it’s already big. And if you eat a big lunch you don’t have to worry about looking bloated because the clothing is already big enough that it doesn’t make it noticeable.

With this trend you can try dressing it up with a big button up and really wide leg trousers or dress it down and use various colors and patterns to put your look together. Would highly recommend trying out at least one (1) oversized look. It never hurts to try and if you don’t like how you look just wear a face mask and don’t take it off. No one will recognize you!
Bold Patterns

With covid restrictions still in place people are now more than ever speaking and letting their presence be known with their clothing. What else to have all eyes on you than a bright bold print. I think that this is great because usually colors for autumn and winter are more muted and tone down to fit the season and weather.

I like this because it adds a pop of color to cold, sole less days. Also when everything is covered in a thick blanket of snow you’d stand out even more and look better contrasting with the pure white.
Simply Overstated

While this statement maybe a juxtaposition, these jackets are that statement. While they are very simple jackets, the simplicity of them is what makes them stand out.
While these are hundreds if not thousands of dollars, you can find similar coats like this in stores for much less money. I would definitely recommend a jacket like this because it can go with any style. Take a look at the pictures below:

While they have a similar construction it’s the materials that it’s made of and the styling that give the different vibes. The black jacket is a more laid back everyday jacket, while the white one is a more luxe and delicate piece. But you could dress the black jacket up easily with the right outfit and accessories. Same goes with the white jacket.
The utility of the jacket (ie pockets, zipper, buttons) are the focal point of the jacket; which make it look more expensive as a lot of higher end clothing take a turn from being extravagant to being plain and understated with good quality.
Comfortable and Cozy

This is a trend that I can totally get behind. While it does have elements from other trends what makes it difference is that you don’t really try looking put together. It’s just putting on what is comfortable for going out. I like this because I live in Chicago and it gets up to -5 degrees Fahrenheit (or -20 degrees Celsius) and there is really no point in trying to dress cute when freezing. Not to mention it is difficult. So take the easy route and just wear what you want and be cozy.
LAYERS

This trend was seen across multiple runways. This is a way to not only keep cozy but show a bit of personality. There are two ways you can go when layering your clothes: you can go for a put together look (like below);

Or you can have fun and layer with what you want: (like below) When trying this trend out I’d say just go for it the whole way and just layer your most favorite piece together even if you think they clash. What if they don’t?

This is just a fun way to express yourself even once. Also layers in winter is so good to keep warm and cool; because if you get too warm you can take something off, but if you get cold again you can just put it right on.
Hopefully you guys found maybe one trend you’d like to try this coming autumn and winter. I’d say buy one outfit that fits each trend to at least say you tried out the look. If you wanna save money I’d say go thrifting; especially for trends like oversized clothing and layering. You’d not only save lots of money, but you’d surely find pieces that not many others have and are wearing. If you guys do like some trends let me know and especially if you try them out.

Also stay tuned because I will follow this post up with the best accessories for autumn and winter of 2021. This post mostly covered the clothing that is seen across the runways, while in the coming post will focus more on the accessories. (Will post a link to that on this page, when I finish.)
