Trends for Spring/Summer 2021

With Spring officially here and warm weather approaching it’s time to shed the jackets and defrost. It’s also a great time to update your closet with a couple of trends that were seen throughout the fashion houses. Although we are still in the pandemic, that does not mean that we have to dress down. On the contrary, we should dress up and get a little joy out of wearing something that makes us feel happy. Here I will show a couple of trends that I noticed and feel that anybody could incorporate into their wardrobe.

Barely there

Why this is a trend for the spring and summer should be a no brainer. In hot weather you wanna wear the least possible clothes as you can and sheer clothing is always the way to go. There is various ways you can incorporate this into your wardrobe to fit your personal taste. You can go full blown and just wear a pair of underwear under your dress or sheer suit. Or if you don’t like that much attention, you can always wear a sheer top with a pair of pants. Either way, this is a style that anybody can wear and you should not be self conscious about having your skin show!

Doily-esque

Continuing with showing skin theme, this is another trend that sure to keep you cool in the summer. This is an all over what seems to be reminiscent of doilys. I find this refreshing for the summer and I think it’s great because it gives you a chance to show some skin in a modest way of you don’t like being out there. Also the holes probably help keep cool, additionally from the light fabric.

Crochet

Now continuing with this granny vibes we had before with the doilys, we come to chic crotchet. This is probably a new style for most because I don’t think crotchet pieces have been in style for a hot minute. Nevertheless, this could be a fun addition to your wardrobe. Personal taste is always key when following trends because you want to make sure you feel you, while adding things to make you on trend. What crotchet piece you want depends on your outfit and what you like. Also I feel this would be great for summer as it’s easy breezy.

Jeans Galore

An overwhelming amount of fashion houses had jeans in their collections, from Balenciaga to Vivienne Westwood. The way the material was used was used in various ways throughout the houses, from regular jeans, to shorts, to tops and more. This is another trend that anybody can follow because everybody owns jeans, the key is to style it in a different way than usual. Take the Balenciaga outfit (first one) from the picture above that is a very simple outfit, but the way is styled is what makes it. Same with the Balmain outfit it’s just jean shorts but paired with a suit jacket and shirt which make it stand out because they are normal not put together. This can never really be a bad outfit option because you can always play it safe.

Jump Suits

This is a trend that would probably require you to buy it because I, personally, don’t think everyone just has a jumpsuit laying around. But I think that this is something everyone can try out. Maybe you want something sleek and cool like the black Saint Laurent jumpsuit. Or maybe you want to be comfortable and laid back wearing something like the green Boss jumpsuit. Or maybe you want to be head turning with a sexy cut out lavender jumpsuit by Laquan Smith. Regardless, this is a trend that can adapt to your personal taste by deciding the silhouette.

Incognito

This trend is something more out there if your bold. You will bring a lot of attention to yourself because the fabrics are bold colors and prints. You could do this in various ways especially since we are still using face masks and incorporate that as part of your outfit like in the pink Rick Owens outfit from above. This is something that if you’re gonna wear just go all the way and don’t try a safe option because nobody is probably going to recognize you and you’ll be covered up.

I think everybody could incorporate one or all these looks into their wardrobe this spring and summer. Some styles are more everyday looks while some maybe a more special event or if you’re just feeling a little extra. Nevertheless you should always dress your best because I do think that confidence can come from clothes. This doesn’t mean buying the most expensive clothing, it’s really about how you style your clothes and even how you wear it. Meaning wear anything with confidence because that really is the best accessory you can have. What was your favorite trend you light follow this season? Mention it in the comments.

SIDE NOTE: If you wanna wear crotch and jeans to be trendy you could just replicate Mariah Carey’s outfit from the “Heartbreaker” video. She wear a pink crotchet top with a pair of blue jeans. Yup, Mariah set trends and we’ve come full circle were it’s fashionable again (even though I never thought it was a bad outfit.)
