Music to Listen to: Glitter

Just yesterday via all social media platforms Mariah Carey announced that she would finally be releasing her underrated 2001 album Glitter on all streaming platforms. This comes two years after the Lambily (that is Mariah Carey fans, aka Lambs) pushed the album by pure sales to the number one spot of the iTunes chart with their #JusticeForGlitter movement, 17 years after its original release.

This is a perfect album, in my humble opinion. It has songs for every mood you can have. Kinda sad and wanna get sadder? Listen to Reflections (Care Enough) or Twister. If you’re feeling like you wanna dance and have fun: listen to Didn’t Mean To Turn You On or Last Night a DJ Saved My Life. Feeling Flirty? Loverboy and it’s remix have got you covered. Feeling a little sensual: listen to All My Life and If We. And if you’re in a hopelessly romantic mood listen to Never Too Far and listen to the perfection of Mariahs voice and one of her longest runs, she has sang in her songs that is magnificent.

This album I feel like has a perfect spot in today’s times as a lot of artists have released songs that have a similar vibes to some on glitter. Some artists who’ve had some 80’s influences recently have been: The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, etc. I highly recommend this album to everyone. It is full of great songs that were not very appreciated when it came.

I truly believe it came out ahead of its time. I know a lot of people on Stan twitter say that jokingly, but I mean it. Lol. She was giving that 80’s retro sound at a time where that sound was not really being used at all. If you compare the glitter album to any other album that came out during that time you can hear a clear difference. While obviously it’s a concept album as it’s tied to the movie, they could have still tried making some of the songs fit in with the times.

Furthermore, this was an album that was criticized at a time where Mariah was struggling with her mental health and was scrutinized in the media. I’m so happy that now she acknowledges the album and she even released some Glitter merch on her website. I’m happy that Mariah is happy giving something to the fans that she knows the fans have wanted. And I’m happy that she knows her music is appreciated and loved by her fans. This is such a great album and I’m glad that now everyone is album to listen to it everywhere! Stream it and buy it !! #JusticeForGlitter
