Valuable Life Lessons We Can Learn From: Cinderella

When Disney+ launched their new streaming service everyone was excited. One of the biggest companies who has a huge selection of movies and TV shows, now finally has their own streaming service. They did not let the public know what movies or TV shows they would be posting on their services. The public found out on the date of the launch. One of the movies that is streaming on their service is Cinderella.

Cinderella is a film that was released in 1950. Over the 70 years since its initial release it has been a beloved film for each of the generations that have watched it. Cinderella is a fairytale story that has been around since before Disney, but Disney really made their mark with their version of Cinderella. From the nice animation to the wonderful songs. But also the lessons that they taught the audience without the audience knowing. I think the values presented in this animated motion picture is great. And even though the film is 70 years old, and times have changed drastically, the values shown can still be applied to today’s life.

Positivity Is Key

One life lesson that Cinderella talks about and you see emphasized A LOT throughout the film is that positivity is key. Cinderella has a rough childhood, both her parents died at a young age and that left her in the care of an abusive step-mother who practically made her into a house slave.

You’d think someone who’s had this happened to them would be one of the most sad, depressed people you would ever meet, but not Cinderella. She’s the complete opposite. She bright and cheer each morning doing her morning chores. This is important because it shows the audience that even though you endure a hard life and have challenges in front of you, you should not let that change the way you view the world. Just because the world is dark in the moment, doesn’t mean it’ll be like this forever. I love this because it gives the audience a glint of hope.

Be Kind To Others

Another life lesson that is shown through out the movie is be kind to others. This can be seen when she interacts with the animals. She feeds all the animals that live in the house food, even the mice. She also doesn’t let Gus Gus, a mouse friend, be stuck in a trap and try to get eaten by the cat. This is important because when it comes to time, the animals realize how much Cinderella actually helps them, so to repay her they make her the dream dress she did not have time to make.

Furthermore, like stated before, Cinderella was orphaned by her real parents when they died, and was left in the care of her step-mother. Her step-mother is cruel woman who only keeps Cinderella around so she can take care of her and her two daughters. Nevertheless, Cinderella is so nice and kind to her step-family, even though they do not treat her nicely or respect her at all. It is always good to be nice and kind to other because you do not know what they are going through personally. BUT you should never be a push-over. I get that it’s a kids movie and they didn’t want the main character talking back and being vengeful, but I still feel that the step-mother and sisters should’ve gotten some bad karma returned to them.

Never Stop Dreaming

Finally, one of the most important life lessons anyone can take away from this movie is Never Stop Dreaming. This is important in the movie, because since she never stop dreaming and always believes in herself her fairy godmother shows up. But she only shows up when Cinderella is on the verge of losing all hope to show her that her hopes and dreams made her come alive to help her.

Moreover, through the entirety of the film Cinderella makes various references to dreaming. This is something important to her because that is the only way she can escape her reality. In the movie she states “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep.” Additionally, she states “No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you dream will come true.” I love these quotes because it gives the audience the idea that they should not give up theirs dreams. Their dreams are valid and if they keep on pursuing the dream they have it will eventually come true.

I believe this is important, well because… DUH ! No one should ever give up their dreams. No matter how far fetched they may think it is. Start with setting little goals that will take you to your big goal(s). I truly believe that if someone puts their all into something and try to make it work it will.

Hope you found these life lessons valuable and use them in your daily life. 🙂 I think we all could learn something from one of the OG princesses of Disney.

I decided to write about Cinderella because I watched the movie and like actually cried at the end of it. LOL. But no really, it made me so happy watching Cinderella get her happy ending. Finally leaving a very toxic household and in the process finding her true love. Of course, I had watched it before when I was young. But now at my age of 21, rewatching I was like ok, they were so mean and nasty to Cinderella and for WHAT ?? She breathed. Rewatching the movie really gave me a little glint of hope, a glint of hope I have been looking for a while. To conclude this I will end this with another dream quote Cinderella says that I, personally, like a lot:

“Well, there’s one thing: they can’t order me to stop dreaming.”
