Pose TV Show Review

What can I say. Another great show by Ryan Murphy. This show is something refreshing for me. On tv shows you mostly see 1 or 2 people of color. But this show is based around the lives of people of color. Not only that, but it represents another minority group; that being the LGBTQ+. Also it gives a voice to people and helps other people who usually do not have a voice in the world.

Characters

From left to right:

Top Row; Candy, Trey, Elektra and Ricky

Bottom Row: Lulu, Angel, Blanca and Damon.

Synopsis

This show is based in the late 1980’s in New York City. It follows the journey of various characters and their journey to be happy and live their lives for who they truly are. From coming out to their parents to coming to self realization of who they actually wanna be. This series follows the cast as they “battle” in balls for trophies and titles. This is done to gain notoriety in the streets and be respected. Not only does it show the good times but it shows the bad times especially being part of the LGBT+ community in the late 80’s with the introduction of AIDS and in the show they do not act like this didn’t happen they add it to the storyline and educate people about it.

Reasons to Watch

One reason to watch is the storyline. It’s about a group of young individuals figuring out their life and purpose in a big city while trying to survive. This is a good storyline because a lot of people will be able to relate to it being that a lot of the population is just trying to survive and live their dreams as well. Another reason is the diversity in the cast. Not only is there a good amount of people of color there is also a lot of diversity in the cast as it’s the first show to have a lot of its cast be transgender. I feel like this is a step in a good direction because it is showing representation on TV and that it is ok for you to be transgender.

Moreover, the fashion. Who doesn’t love 80’s fashion. From the bright colors to the shoulder pads, you will get your dose of authentic 80’s fashion here. Furthermore, the best part of this show, in my opinion are the balls. Seeing the characters get dressed in their best attire to walk in a categories. Finally, the reads that they give each other are gag worthy. No one is safe on this show.

Overall this is a great show and recommend it to everyone to watch. 10/10
