If you are an avid fashion show watcher and especially the couture shows, you might have noticed that some shows end with a bridal gown. Although, there is no specific reason for this, I think it’s a great way to end a couture show. You are showing the crème de la crème. A dress for an occasion that is supposed to be the most special date of your life. So, ending your show with a show stopping wedding gown is a good fit.
This staple started in the 1940’s. The wedding dress although, has its own past. Woman used to marry in various colors and prints, using materials and dresses that could be reused.
This all changed when Queen Victoria wore a white dress for her wedding. This was not only a fashion statement but a statement of wealth. A statement of wealth because she did not have to reuse or repurpose the dress like most commoners would often do. Also she didn’t have to worry about getting the dress dirty because she didn’t have to work in it, since she only wore it once.
To this day I believe the ideology of Queen Victoria is still around as wedding dress tend to be very expensive and extravagant. Here I will show some of my favorite finale wedding dresses from various designers. If you are ever planning on getting married, I’d bookmark this so you can have a little inspo for you special day!
