In my twenty years of life living on this earth, there have only been two shows that I have ever finished watching. They were Avatar: The Last Airbender and Gossip Girl. These are my two favorite shows. Although Avatar is a great show I first decided to talk about Gossip Girl, because I just restarted watching it and thought people should know about it if they don’t.

The plot

This show is about a group of rich kids who live in the upper east side of New York, whose lives get reported to a sorta big brother entity, who they refer to as Gossip Girl. “She” is unknown throughout all the season until the final season. I say she in quotation marks because nobody knows who gg (another way Gossip Girl is referred to) actually is and is always speculated to be different people including men and women.

She not only reports small rumors of people who were seen together, she also reports the intimate lives of the character and what they are going through; from brake ups to arrest, GG is all knowing and always reporting. She does this by sending “Blasts”. Those are mass text messages she would send to all of the students of both of the schools all the characters went to.

Although, I’m not going to lie the first episode of Gossip Girl doesn’t leave you wanting more. In my opinion, the first episode is not as good as the rest of the episodes. Although it somewhat introduces all the characters it doesn’t leave you wanting more. But when you watch the second episode and the rest of the show you are only left wanting to watch more. It takes an episode or two, but after that you are hooked. Especially because of all of the dramatics this show has to offer.

The Characters

There are five main characters on the show being: Serena, Dan, Blair, Chuck, and Nate. Throughout the seven seasons get to you see the characters growing up. Not only are the characters sometimes snarky and rude, they are loveable and even sometimes relatable as well.

These 5 characters go through so much individually, varying from drug abuse to mental health problem, showing the viewer that those problems could happen to anybody, even if they are in a position with wealth. You might even be able to connect to a character and the problems they are having. Not to be weird, but this is the type of show we’re you create a bond with the characters. Throughout the show there is so many things that happen to the characters that make you laugh and cry, and go through almost all emotions. Although fictitious, you see them go through terrible heartbreaks, family deaths, and also important happier moments like weddings and graduation. But something that always is the cause of these emotions is the drama.

The Drama

From petty rumors to full on murder, this show is filled with drama from the start to the finish. What else you would expect from rich kids who’s never get told no. Throughout the seven season running of this show the relationship JUST between the five characters get so confusing, you start to think “How are they all still friends?” As soon as you think the plot is going to be steady and nothing is gonna happen a Blast gets sent out and then people start freaking out. Who knew a text could do so much damage?

Did I mention plot twists? Because this is something that happens in this shows. As soon as you think what’s going on, BAM! Something unexpected happens and derails what ever you thought.

Also people throughout the seasons want to know who Gossip Girl is. If you area self proclaimed detective like I am, you can actually figure out who she is. I figured out who she was around season 4 and my suspicions were confirmed in the final season. In the show the characters try figuring out who she is, but always come to a dead end or a phony gg.

If you are a person who loves shows with drama, cliffhangers, and plot twists, I believe this is the show for you. It’s a show you can binge watch in a couple of days or a show that you can take your time in watching. Hope I help convince you to watch this show and maybe you’d like it too!
